Sidebar, a popular dining destination in Oakland, will be closing its doors on January 27, as announced in a heartfelt Facebook post. The post expressed gratitude towards the loyal customers and dedicated staff who have supported Sidebar over the years. The restaurant, situated at 542 Grand Avenue near the Pergola, has left a lasting impression as an iconic establishment in the Oakland dining scene.
The restaurant made its debut in February 2009. Sidebar prides itself as an “old school neighborhood eatery with timeless appeal and a modern approach,” as stated on its website.
In 2022, Seth Bergman and Jenni Bergman, renowned restaurateurs from Oakland, became the new owners of Sidebar. They are also the proud owners of Bardo Lounge & Supper Club, a Michelin Guide restaurant situated at 3343 Lakeshore Avenue.
After Sidebar’s closure, the Grand Avenue location will serve as a prep and overflow space for Bardo private events, as stated in the post.
