A dead pig left on the doorstep of a prominent religious figure’s doorstep is under investigation as an apparent bias crime, according to a report.
The Lakewood Township Police Department’s Detective Bureau is investigating the anti-semetic incident after a deceased pig was reportedly found on the porch of a prominent Rabbi in Lakewood, according to The Lakewood Scoop.
The pig was reportedly left in front of the Rabbi’s home sometime during the Sabbath on Saturday, November 28th.
Jews are forbidden by the Bible to eat certain foods, like pork and shellfish.
The Anti-Defamation League tweeted about the incident over the weekend praising police for taking action, “This incident is beyond horrifying & (sic) should be condemned by all. We’re glad [Lakewood Police] is investigating as an ‘apparent bias crime’. Please share any information with Law Enforcement so that those responsible can be apprehended.”
The Ocean County Post cannot independently confirm the validity of the incident as it has not been officially reported by police.
