An Atlantic County man is accused of swindling thousands of dollars worth of goods, the Stafford Township Police Department said in a post on Wednesday.

Santos Lugo III, 26, of Absecon was allegedly driving a U-Haul box truck on Route 72 near Stafford Square when police pulled him over. The truck was found to be connected to a series of shoplifting offenses occurring throughout New Jersey, police say.

Further investigation revealed Lugo to be in possession of $3,300 worth of stolen floor tiles from the Lowes store in Brick Township. He then is accused of attempting to bring the tiles to the Manahawkin Lowes for a store credit.

Lugo was charged with possession of the stolen property. He was also taken into custody for a previous warrant issued out of Absecon Township.

Lugo was released pending a court appearance in the Ocean County Superior Court.
